Managing Containers

Important: In order to use containers, the role of the logged-in user must have access to the Container feature. In order to view inventory data, the role of the logged-in user must have access to the Inventory View feature. In order to add inventory, the user must have access to the Add Item to Inventory feature.

When containers are used, you are able to add a container to inventory, adjust the inventory there, and move it from a container to a location, or from a location into a container. The first step in using containers is to add them to the application. Once added to the system, the containers are available as an option when adding an item to inventory, issuing items and receiving items. When a container contains inventory, you are able to view the container inventory at the Inventory Data page and adjust it there. The following sections contain more information about working with inventory in a container:

Moving Items in a Container

When an item is located in a container, you are able to move this item into another container or into a physical location; see "Moving an Item in a Container". You are also able to move a full container into another container or into a physical location; this will change the parent location of the container and all items in the container will be moved into the destination location; see "Moving Inventory into or out of a Container". You are also able to move a container into another parent location; see "Moving a Container".
